Fascination Glass
The wide range of applications and forms, as well as its low environmental impact, make glass truly fascinating produkt. As a specialist in cutting edge industrial glass technology, Walter Frank has collected many years of valuable experience in dealing with this material.
On the look out for new business opportunities, he worked as a self-employed system manufacturer with an as yet little-known use for glass: foam glass used as an insulating material. Now, in the wake of increasing demands on the insulating material market and increasing importance of the conservation of natural resources, this product is enjoying an up-swell of both growth and acceptance. Glass foam has many interesting properties that make it suitable for a wide range of applications: durable, recyclable, odourless and inert to name a few. Walter Frank was impressed by the many and varied benefits of this glass insulating material, but at the same time recognized the need to improve the production process of foam glass. GLAPOR was started at the end of 2003 to implement the concept of a continuous production process.
Success was achieved after 3 years of research from a team of experienced mechanical engineers, foam glass specialists and experts from the construction industry. Continuous improvement of the production process culminated in an optimised manufacturing system. Further to the simple production of a foam glass gravel product, the innovative manufacturing process also enables the production of high-quality foam glass boards in dimensions suitable for industry. The ability to produce large plates, of dimensions unrivalled by competitors, makes this process unique. The continuous manufacturing process is achieved using cutting edge systems technology. A large number of process parameters are collected and controlled via a specially designed computerised process and optimisation system. Fully automated production lines ensure constant product quality at minimum power consumption.
